Now Hiring - Furniture Sales & Sustainability Associate - Remix Market NYC in Brooklyn, NY

Remix Market NYC is looking for a new member to add to our growing team. We are looking for an individual who enjoys research and learning, with a knack for data entry, customer service, and sales, but also wishes to get out from behind a desk and move throughout the day!

You should be familiar with basic furniture brands, design eras, and materials, or willing to quickly learn. We have a dedicated fan base, so social media is integral to our business, and the best candidates are active on Instagram and Tiktok. This job requires a candidate that is independent and is not afraid of ‘getting their hands dirty’ as we move furniture, home goods and more, in and out daily.

We are looking for someone who has a great attitude, enjoys working with people, is highly motivated and eager to learn, and is seeking an opportunity to grow within a community-oriented organization.

This position has the opportunity to be part-time, full-time or part-time turning into full-time.

Experience:

• Two years of retail sales & customer service experience required
• Warehouse/Stockroom experience preferred
• Familiarity with furniture, art, and design preferred
• Foreign language proficiency is a plus (Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese or another)

Requirements:

• Availability to work four ten-hour shifts per week with weekend availability required
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs independently
• Ability to safely carry-out a two-person lift
• Ability to work on your feet for long periods, 8+ hours
• Familiarity with furniture terminology and materials. Research experience a plus
• Active on social media, such as Instagram and Tiktok
• Ability to clearly and consistently photograph items with a cellphone or tablet. Understanding of lighting and editing basics a plus
• Experience using POS systems, such as Lightspeed. Computer literate and technically savvy
• Regular use of Google Drive - Google Calendar, Google Sheets, Google Docs, or similar programs
• Ability to work independently logging inventory, organizing the warehouse, and reconciling new incoming donations
• Ability to execute sales, help customers, and answer online inquiries with top-notch customer service

Remix Market NYC is a creative reuse center and fundraiser for Habitat NYC. We are a unique store,operated by The Junkluggers of NYC. We donate and resell furniture, art, and appliances at competitive prices to eliminate waste and make basic necessities accessible to New Yorkers at all income levels. We focus on sustainability and keeping as many items out of the landfill as possible!
